A couple of weeks ago I participated in the Heart Breaker Half marathon as part of the preparation for the 70.3 in, Lima, Peru. I felt pretty good going into the race, I knew there was a 1 mile hill at about mile 4 but I did not look at the course map that well and I was in for a little bit of a surprise.
The half marathon was in Hillsboro and had a fair amount of rolling hills which I was mentally unprepared for and since I tend to train mostly on flat surfaces it proved to be a rather hard course for me. The goal was to feel good about the distance, finish in about 2 hours and work on my nutrition from that standpoint it went well I also learned that I went into the half marathon a little over confident and have to do a better job at looking at the elevation map so I'm not as surprised again. This is why we do these practice runs!
After the half marathon I felt a little too low on nutrition but I drank my Sunshine Power and within about 20 minutes felt so much better. If you have not tried it yet I highly recommend it. I believe it is sold at Green Zebra and some of the Safeway stores in Portland.
I also got to wear the new Las Primas running shirts GreenLayer made for me they are so comfortable!
