Finally Back on the Bike

My first triathlon was in 2007 and the bike portion has always been the most difficult for me. Unlike most people the swim is the easiest, I do well in the run but the bike, oh the bike I feel like I am so slow!

 

I had not ridden my bike more that 3 miles in the past 4 years so I figured I should probably start to build on that since I have to ride 56 miles in April and still have legs to run a half marathon. The goal was to ride 30 miles continuously even if it was very slow. I was a little nervous the wind was not too strong though so I went out feeling really good about it hoping not to get a flat which honestly is one of my biggest nightmares.

 

I rode out to Marine Drive, behind the airport and over to Blue Lake park for an out and back Maintained a pretty steady pace of about 15 miles per hour. Overall not bad and I am really happy that I had the fitness to ride 30 miles especially after not riding for so long. My butt was very sore the next day and as soon as I got home I wanted a burger but I am very happy to be back at it on the bike!
